As an English teacher and a former media specialist, I love reading! At any given moment, I might be in the middle of four or five books. Reading can let me escape, and it can broaden my perspectives. Currently, I’m reading Glory\u00a0Over\u00a0Everything<\/em> by Kathleen Grissom, Teach\u00a0Like\u00a0a\u00a0Pirate\u00a0<\/em>by Dave Burgess, Murder\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0Book\u00a0Club<\/em> by Betsey Reavley, and Sleeping\u00a0Beauties<\/em> by Stephen King & Owen King. I’m in a few book discussion groups to push me out of my comfort zone and get me reading things I might not gravitate to on my own. I set reading goals for myself each year, too: sometimes I just shoot for a specific number, but I’ve also made goals to read more non-fiction (I prefer fantasy and sci-fi) or to read books by different authors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various studies show that students who read for pleasure outside of academic coursework do better in school!
