Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable winter break. I was able to complete some projects around my house that I had been putting off. I finished watching season 2 of The Mandalorian and met my reading goals for the year. It was nice to step away from the computer and responsibilities for a few days!

Every new year, I make some goals and plans for myself. I wouldn’t say that they are “resolutions,” but I do reflect on what I did during the year and what I’d like to do in the new year. I always set a reading goal for myself–the past few years, the goal has been numbers-based (I aim to complete 52 or more books each year) but I have had some goals that pushed me into reading outside my comfort zone. Examples: read a non-fiction book from each 100 category of the Dewey Decimal system or read 26 different books by authors whose last names begin with a different letter of the alphabet. This year, my reading goal is to read at least 52 books and participate in two book clubs. Do you have any reading goals?

I also have some craft-related goals. I hope to complete at least 12 projects during the year, and I will be joining some online classes for knitting and crocheting. I’m co-sponsoring a Creative Club with eSchool Art teacher Mr. Garcia, and I’m looking forward to helping create a space for Pasco county high school students to share their creative ideas.

I know I won’t meet my goals unless I am deliberate. I made a notebook to jot down my ideas and plans, and I found a spreadsheet I can use to track my daily habits. If I want something done, I have to make time for it.

What about you? What are your goals and aspirations? What systems have you put into place for yourself to help you meet your goals? I would love to hear about it! Maybe you have an academic goal, like staying on pace. What are you going to do every day to create that habit? Or maybe you have a story you’d like to write? Have you planned intentional time to develop it? Text or email if you want to share!
